Random Table: The Great Bakerie

Being the first in an irregular series of random provocation tables for games of various types. In my mind when I started writing this one I just thought, "Hmmm, what kind of cakes would a magic baker sell?" It seemed silly at first, and is possibly over-written, but it's just designed to give some ideas. You fill in the blanks, and of course YMMV.

Merion is the son of a Sorceress and a Gourmet. Trained by both, he set off to find his own path in the world; after years of travel and practice he set up The Great Bakerie, a shop where he makes and sells confections that defy the natural order. There is usually a selection of cakes and pastries that have magical effects. Sometimes he has far rarer and more bizarre delights...

The following random table provides inspiration for whatever might be in Merion's shop today. He's a skilled and gifted alchemical pastry chef, but not even he can always predict how things will turn out. Buyer beware is printed on every receipt he hands out.

Flavour and Type give some hint as to what the food looks like; Effect is a provocation as to what traits or things might be effected by the food, and Strength gives an indication of how powerful the effect might be. Digestion indicates how long before the effect of the confection kicks in; combined with Strength it gives an indication of how long-lasting or person-altering the food might be - if something takes a full day to kick in then it may be that the effect lasts a long time, or that it lasts for the full day. Really, it's wherever your thinking takes you.

Today's Specials: I rolled up four specials that Merion baked especially for today.

Strawberry Flapjack (Strawberry + Flapjack + Beauty + Sharp + d10 seconds)
There's a glamour mixed in with the strawberry and oats, and it takes only a short time before it takes effect. Very popular with those wishing to court and woo, it gives the person who eats it the appearance of their best possible self until sunrise, whenever that is.

Elan's Parcel (Elvish + Roll + Immunity + Weak + 12 hours)
An old recipe given to Merion on his travels by a half-elf. The roll combines certain rare sugars and moulds that give the eater a resistance to all but the most terrible of poisons for half a day. If eaten by a victim of poison it might provide some relief, but it depends on how long they have been suffering.
(A person who has eaten the roll still makes a save versus poison, but only a natural fail gets past the parcel; if a person is suffering from poison they have a 50/50 chance that the parcel will neutralise any further effects, but it will not reverse damage already done)

Archer's Cake (Glazed + Ring + Dexterity + Persistent + A minute)
A simple cantrip baked into a sugar-icing coated ring; if you eat one then you will find that your aim is much better with long range weapons. (+2 for two days)

Harsh Health (Spiced + Mouthful + Healing + Weak + 2d6 seconds)
Merion sells this healing bread in small quantities. While it is true that eating a small point can stir up the elements to heal you, if eaten in large quantities it can have an adverse reaction, bringing on vomiting and other side-effects. Some say it is the magic. Others say it is the taste.
(One mouthful will restore three HP if you are at 1HP or less, and 2HP otherwise; a second mouthful has a 10% chance of causing vomiting, and each additional mouthful in a 24 hour period gives an extra 10% chance of vomiting. Vomiting reduces CON by d3 points and STR by d2 points for three days)

So... Roll something up. What else can you find in The Great Bakerie today?
